Panopticism Project

Panopticism was the title given to my Bachelor of Fine Art thesis project, exhibited at the Spring 2008 Memphis College of Art BFA Exhibition. The work presented was a two-part installation which consisted of a large-scale lightbox [ 7 x 2.5ft. ] and corresponding light table with transparent monographs. The concept for the installation was based on philosopher Michel Foucault’s Discipline and Punishment, in particular his writings on Bentham’s Panopticon, while integrating ideas of appropriation and mass advertinsing.
